Saturday, July 26 – Day 12, to home

Last night we both slept on the sofa, or tried to. Hannah found different window treatments to scratch and climb. The windows were open because of the heat, and we smelled smoke all night long.

In the morning, as Paul set the car for towing, ash fell off the car. The air was still hazy until we reached about Sacramento.

We topped off at the Flying J in Corning, at $4.179/gallon. We won’t have to fill up until we reach Corning again in a couple of weeks. We’re headed back north for a week of square dancing to my favorite caller. We won’t even put the motorhome in storage until after that trip.

We got home in the afternoon. Thankfully, the air is clean here. The cats are glad to be home: Sydney has already caught a lizard’s tail, and Hannah has been checking out the hummingbird feeder.
